About Colonel

  • Status: Adopted!
  • Species: Dog
  • General Color: Brindle
Our Memorial day pups got their name because they were found and rescued on Memorial Day weekend. One of our volunteers was out with friends when she saw a box on the side of the road that looked odd. She and her friends stopped to check things out and what they found was 3 tiny puppies that weighed less than a pound a piece. They were so covered in fleas they looks like they were spotted. All pups were moving and alive but not doing well. They were immediately brought to the emergency vet where they all received IV fluids and little Soldier required a blood transfusion. Thank goodness they were found when they were. The vet guesstimated their age at only 5 weeks and said they would not have made it more than a couple more hours if we hadn’t found them and brought them into the hospital. Fast forward 4 weeks and we have 3 completely healthy and energetic puppies. These pups have been handled and loved since they were brought to their foster home. Initially reserved and quite shy these 3 have become quite the social little butterflies. They love their foster mommy and will follow her all over the house. They play, wrestle and chase each other as if there was never a thought that we almost lost them. They love to play tug of war and spend time outside getting some sun. They are puppies so as with any puppy they think anything they can get their paws on belongs to them and can be used as a teething toy. This will include the charger to your lap top or your favorite pair of shoes if you leave them laying around. Applicants should demonstrate preparedness for a new puppy. These boys will require continued socialization and training to allow them to continue to grow and become the amazing pups they are already proving to be. All three of these boys will be under 10 pounds as adults.
