Iris entered the shelter ready to pop. It was quite apparent she was going to give birth any day so we were called and asked if we could take her into the rescue. It's best if we can get mom into their foster home so that she trusts her foster family before giving birth. It only took her a couple hours to show how thankful she was to be in a warm bed with a full bowl of food. A week later Iris allowed her foster family help her deliver seven of the cutest puppies you have ever seen. Six girls and one big boy name cactus Jack. Collectively we called them the Mayflower litter. Iris was such a good mom to all of her puppies that now it's time for her to find her happily ever after. Iris lived with three small dogs in her last foster home and did wonderfully. In order to wean her babies and give her the attention she deserves Iris is currently living with a family that has a teenage girl that Iris adores and two large breed dogs. Right now Iris coexists with the larger dogs but has shown signs that in time they could become friends. Iris is an easy-going type of girl that loves her humans and her cuddle time on the couch watching the latest episode of real housewives of Beverly Hills with her person. Iris has been potty trained in her foster home however some accident should be expected with any change. She weighs about 18 to 20 pounds and has the wiry coat of a terrier and the body of a wirehaired Dachshund. She has cute little white feet with black spots and a white chest. Iris is so easy-going she could go with most any type of family.
