We were called about a very pregnant stray dog that had just come into the shelter. Best thing to do is get mommy into a foster home so that she can trust her foster family before the pups are born so that she will allow us to handle her pups and care for them. When a foster home said they could take mommy we jumped at the chance and got her out of the shelter. Didn’t take long for her to absolutely love and trust her new family which was good because a week later mommy who is now known as Iris gave birth to 7 adorable and healthy pups. 6 girls and 1 boy. Talk about amazing experience. With her foster family at her side helping when needed Iris checked, cleaned and began nursing her babies immediately. Now at 8 weeks old these puppies have teeth and are eating regular kibble so its time for them to move on the their individual forever homes. These pups are well socialized with other dogs, kids and adults of all sizes. They will easily acclimate into their new homes but applicants should be prepared for the not so fun puppy antics like chewing on everything they can get their sharp puppy teeth on. This will include your favorite pair of flip flops, computer cords or the foot of your delicious dining table if you leave things within their reach. They will need a home that is dedicated to continuing their training and socialization so they can grow up to be amazing adults. Mommy Iris is a Wire haired Doxie/Terrier type that weighs about 18 pounds. we have no idea what daddy was but the pups look like they will be under 15 pounds. Cactus Jack our only boy will be the largest. From the time that little bugger was born he has been like a linebacker pushing his way to milking station! If you are ready to lose a few shoes to puppy teeth but don’t mind being paid in endless supplies of puppy kisses these pups may just win you over.
