• Meet Buddy.   This Schnauzer mix beauty came to us from Monterey County Animal Services where he was a shelter staff favorite but wasn’t doing well in the loud and scary shelter environment so we were asked to help out. Brought in as a stray, covered in fleas, shy and scared the shelter staff knew the best thing for him was a “home based” foster home where he could decompress and learn it’s OK to be a DOG! Fast forward one week and we have a healthy, flea free pooch that is gaining more confidence every day. He has realized doggie siblings are the best thing next to sliced bread and offer hours worth of play time like chase, tug of war, and “steal” the toy from your doggie pals so they want to work like a first pick defensive linebacker to get the coveted toy from his excited jaw. We think he is about 1-2 years old and is a perfect “portable pooch” weighing in at about 15 pounds so would be a good option for those that want to take their pup to the office, neighborhood pub or a day of wine tasting with friends. He is working on his potty training and learning outdoor potty brings a shower of stinky doggie treats his way but indoor potty leaves him empty handed. Buddy sleeps in his crate all night with little fuss and has not had a single potty accident throughout the night while in it. Because of his initial shyness we think he would so best in a quiet home where he doesn’t have to constantly meet new people. He could learn to love the school aged kids in his home but won’t love all the Bday parties, sleepovers and social events children bring to the house so a adult only home would be best. He would do great with another moderately playful canine sibling but would be just as happy as your one and only.  Buddy would love to find a home of his own in time to get his change of address in in time for Santa to deliver all the essentials he has on his “good boy” list for Christmas.
